| It's tuesday i know. Sorry about missing my day to blog a devotion. yesterday and today i have been feeling pretty sick, sore througt and stuffy nose. Today Scott offered to take me out for lunch so i accepted knowing i would feel bad at home or out and about so i may as well eat some free lunch. anyhow I was telling him about how weak i felt and that even he could probley beat me up in my weak condition. we laughed and carried on with our lunch, but when i got home i realized that this truth does not only apply in our physical condition, but also in our spiritual one as well. We as Christians get our strenght from christ and the word of God, and if we spend any length of time away from it we can become weak as if we were sick from an illness. My challange is this, we must read and pray and meet with Christ daily, because if we don't, even something little could win a battle against us in our weakened state. Find your strenght in Christ, i'll do the same with little help from advil cold. | | |
| For those of you who haven't read nick's entry on demons, i would urge you to do so. I was reading a chapter in the book "seeing and savoring Christ" about the devil and his demons. I commented nick on what the book was saying because i thought it was really encouraging. The chapter was talking about why Christ doesn't just destroy the devil and his angles. See the truth is that God at any point could send satan to the firry pit at anytime and with very little effort, the fact that he chooses not to does not mean that he can't. Christ actually has decided not to, and although it might seem like a really stupid thing to do his decision has a huge purpose. I was struggling with this for some time, because it seemed to me that if Christ was so powerful and he loves us so much that he would want to protect us at all cost, especially if he could do away with the one who leads us astray the most. After reading this chapter it all came clear to me why Christ has chosen to stand back in this decision.
Point One- Christ's choice to come to this earth as a human being and suffer a death on the cross, which he didn't deserve, and than die actually broke the power that satan hold's in giving death to those who sin. So one could say that through Christ the power of sin has been destroyed because of the cross. This means that although we still have the choice to sin, we can ask forgiveness from Christ as an act of repentance and pay nothing not even death, for our sins, because Christ has already paid our death penalty. This also nullifies the guilt that we can fell after we sin, because there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ our lord.
Point Two- By allowing satan, the one who draws people to sin and try"s to kill and destroy, to be on this earth and not banished to hell, we as humans have the free will to now chose Christ or to chose what the enemy offers in sinful things. This makes the choice to follow Christ just that, "It's a Choice". Christ is not a dictatorship and he never will be. He desires that we serve Him as an act of chosen obedience and not because we have no other choice. This gives Christ the glory, because in spite of what the world has to offer, even with it's great pleasures, we have chosen Christ. Christ is glorified in this and is pleased that His people have chosen HIM. | | |
